Secret Eating!

Got lots of comments via email about the last blog on detoxes. Seems many of you have had some pretty rough experiences. Even hospital visits from “cleanses in a bottle.” NO good!! Sorry about that! Hopefully word will spread about the dangers of these diet/detox/cleanses and women will quit taking what they perceive as a short-cut to one less dress size.

Also had a very intelligent woman – she’s a friend and a Fun Girl Boot Camper – comment on her liver cleanse that she does under the direction of her doctor every year. She swears by it and says it’s done miracles in regulating her hormones. That’s way different than the cleanses I wrote about. Plus, if it works for her, and her body has given her the green light, that rocks. She should stick with it. And as an always-curious, ever-searching-for-knowledge-to-help-us-all-live-better Fun Girl, I will investigate and bring you more…

But on to today’s pressing topic: Secret Eating!

Okay, so I know that if you’re like the typical American woman over the age of 30, you eat very differently when no one’s watching. A recent survey said that 86% of women, who are health-oriented, wait until they’re alone to eat their favorite indulgent foods.

That’s why I’ve always been a little suspect of training clients who turn in perfect food logs or women whose refrigerators and pantries look like the shelves of Whole Foods. I’ve been around the block enough to know that nobody’s perfect… and those who look perfect often have the biggest demons buried within.

So it’s confession time ladies! Tell me what you eat, when you’re all alone and think nobody is watching. Tell me that comfort food – I don’t care how trashy, Pop-Tarty, or chocolate-syrup-covered it is.

Post it as a comment or email me, and I’ll share with you the research about how many women sneak food, what kinds of foods they eat… and in my opinion, why they should NOT feel guilty about it!!

Rock on, Fun Girls!
